So desperate to get married?
Rachel needed a husband so badly, she was 29 and most of her friends were already married, she appeared to be the only one left out. Everyone kept asking her when she would get married, she had stopped going for weddings because of the embarrassment. Her parents didn’t make her life easier as they kept requesting to see their grandchildren before they die.
One Sunday after church service, Tim, a tall, broad chested, dark and handsome young man with brown eyes walked up to her, it was his first time at church and he had been mesmerized by the song Rachel led the choristers to sing. He couldn’t stop telling her how sonorous her voice was, he told her it was angelic, it was heavenly, it was the best voice he had ever heard and he would love to hear her voice forever! Gbam! Those words meant the world to Rachel. She was grateful and thought to herself she had finally found Mr Right. They soon started dating and he began to ask her for sex, she would resist, he wasn’t pleased with this. He would say things like “I just can’t hold myself when I see you”, “I love you and I will marry you”, “Don’t be frigid, everyone is doing it”. The pressure was getting so much from him and she was too scared to lose him, considering her age, after all Tim liked her.
She finally succumbed to his request and got pregnant! As a result they both agreed to get married quickly for the fear of what people would say if they realized she was pregnant. Soon into the marriage, Rachel realized that her Tim was a completely different person, she found out to her dismay he was having affairs with some other ladies! This was so heartbreaking for her! She wept and kept asking God why He would let such a thing happen to her, after waiting for so long, only to be trapped in marriage with the wrong person!
Dear sister, while this story is fictional, it is a story some people might be able to relate with. There are many lessons to learn but I would like to share a few:
1. A church is like a hospital, you meet all sorts of people there. The fact that you met a guy in church does NOT automatically mean that he is born again! The Bible says that by their fruits you shall know them!
2. Any guy who keeps pressurizing you for sex lacks self-control! Believe it or not, he is an adulterer in the making! The choice still remains yours! If he genuinely loves you, he won’t quit the relationship. He would wait for you.
3. Don’t be so desperate to get married, you are likely to fall into the wrong hands! Watch and pray – fall in love with your eyes open to see the character of the guy and your heart open to hear from God.
4. Premarital sex is still a sin. God’s standards have not changed! Not everyone is having premarital sex. There are people who are choosing to live a pure life and it is not old fashioned! If God could help me, He can help you too. Even if you have found yourself doing it, it is not too late to make a U-turn to God.
5. Dear parent, the pressure the society puts on single ladies is intense! Please don’t add to it. The prayers in your closet and words of encouragement will make your dreams come through.
If you are yet to give your life to Christ, there is no sin too terrible that God cannot forgive. He loves you just the way you are. If you will sincerely say this prayer, He will give you a new nature. Dear Lord, I’m sorry for all my sins, please forgive me. I accept Jesus Christ into my life as my Lord and Saviour. Amen.
If you have said this prayer Congratulations! It’s the best decision you can ever make. Please find a Bible believing church to help you learn more about God.
Thank you for reading. If you have been blessed by this post, please share and leave a comment. God bless you.
