I was having my weekly heart-to-heart session with one of my sons today. This session is usually a time for honest conversation between us, it is a no-judgment session. He is free to say what he thinks and ask any question on his mind without filter!

I have gotten told some really harsh truths during some of our conversations which have made hubby and I reflect on our parenting style. It is a time where I also ensure to connect and bond with him.

Anyway, today, he asked me this question:
“How does a woman get pregnant?” and as I began providing him with some explanation, he went on to ask even deeper questions -

“Why do people get married?”
“Is it a sin if someone doesn’t marry?”
“If someone divorces, is it okay to marry again?”

Gosh! I was amazed by all his questions but I depended on the Holy Spirit to help me simplify things while trying to understand the reason behind his questions 😊.

Why have I shared this?

Children have many questions on their curious mind and if we are not fully present in their lives as parents to provide them with the right answers, they would likely get the wrong answers from friends, internet and other sources of information.

My encouragement to parents and those who intend to be parents is to ensure that you dedicate time to connect with your children. The connection builds friendship and trust. It goes a long way to provide that emotional security for your kids. This is also one sure way to change any behaviour in them you don’t like - Connect to Correct 😊.
