I married him because the prophet said so!
I MARRIED HIM BECAUSE THE PROPHET SAID SO!
I heard the story of a lady (Miss Y) who was told by a prophet that Mr X was her husband and that she had to get married to him before the end of the year or else she would lose him! This lady gullibly and hurriedly got married to Mr X who was very lackadaisical about life, he was lazy and not motivated at all. He was just a dreamer, desiring the good things of life but not willing to work hard. Miss Y is now married to Mr X but she is very miserable and frustrated in the marriage because of her husband’s attitude to life.
Many people like Miss Y have been misled into wrong marriages and taken words from a so-called “man of God” hook, line and sinker without even checking if the words are in line with God’s will and purpose for their lives, and if the purpose of this person they are being told to marry aligns with theirs! This should not be so!
Dear single brother or sister, when it is time to make a critical decision such as who to spend the rest of your life with, don’t make the decision solely because a prophet said so! You must be able to put that prophecy side by side with God’s word and with what God has spoken to you in the past and now. The Bible says, “In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established” – 2 Corinthians 13:1b. You must learn to hear God for yourself! We live in a world where many people are carrying the title “prophet” and “pastor” claiming that God has spoken this and that when God really hasn’t (1 Kings 13:18).
The Bible admonishes “do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world” (1 John 4:1). Hence, it is pertinent that you hear God for yourself and obey Him! Realize that no man or woman of God will be in that marriage with you for life; you are the one going into it with whoever you have chosen, so you better take your time to seek God’s face and choose right! Don’t be under any undue pressure to marry a person your heart is not at peace with just because a prophet said so.
God can speak to you too! Now is the time to begin to learn to hear God. He is interested in even the smallest detail of your life! Don’t wait till it is time to get married then you start seeking to hear His voice, you would hear so many voices at that time and you will be confused as to which is His.
If you are yet to have a relationship with God, and you would like to, say these words genuinely: “Lord Jesus, I desire to hear your voice. Forgive my sins, I accept you into my life as my Lord and Saviour. Write my name in the book of life. Thank you Lord for saving me. In Jesus name I have prayed, Amen!”
If you have said this prayer, congratulations! You are now born again, please find a Bible believing church so you can learn more about God.
If you are born again but you are yet to hear God speak to you. Spend time studying the Bible and praying. God can speak to you through His Word, through dreams, a still small voice, etc. Remember that whatever you have heard or seen that contradicts God’s word is not God!!!
I pray that you get it right in marriage and you do not miss God’s will for your life.
